Originally published by the Radio Society of Great Britain, the projects were all chosen to be useful and straightforward, with the emphasis on practicality. In most cases the workings of the circuit are described, and the projects are backed up by small tutorials on the components and concepts employed. In the 21st century it may seem strange that few of the published circuits use integrated circuits (chips). This is intentional as it is much easier to understand how the circuit works when using discrete components.

Rudolf Graf and William Sheets have written a book containing twenty low-power (LP) transmitter projects, perfect for the electronics hobbyist and radio experimenter. Now that the FCC has changed its regulations about "pirate" transmissions, more and more people are setting up radio and video stations for broadcast from their homes.
One of the most basic of all electronic circuits is the oscillator, or signal generator. Virtually all electronics systems incorporate at least one such circuit.While information on signal generators is not terribly hard to find, there has been no single source devoted to the oscillator until now.
This could very well be a publishing first—a book devoted to the premise that most of the real fun in electronic tinkering is derived from scrounging and swiping, trial and error, and good, old - fashioned cheap - skating.
